FAQs

What should they wear? Think simple. Avoid logos, lettering and fluorescent colors — other than that, let their personality show up in their clothing! Oh, and don’t worry about shoes, bare feet are welcome, and their feet won’t show much in the photos anyway!

Will we need to bring anything? Just the kids, dressed and fed! These sessions are simple and cannot accommodate large props but if you have a specific prop in mind, feel free to run it by me before you book.

Can you get a photo of my two kids together? While my set up is made for simple individual portraits…. if there are two kiddos who are small enough to sit together on my chair, then they are small enough for me to photograph them together (standing or sitting). Make sure to book two time slots back-to-back. If you have more than two kiddos and you want photos of them all together, let’s set up an family session at your home or at an outdoor location.

Can the whole family hop in for just one photo? Nope :) These special photos are going to capture your kids as individuals. If you want the whole fam together, let’s book a family session soon!

I’m nervous about how my kids are going to behave, what should I do to prepare them? Sessions with me are fun and engaging. I love connecting with kids. You do not need to do anything particular to prepare your kids other than: don’t forget to feed them, make sure they get some sleep, and try not to stress them out about getting ready. I have worked with children of all ages, from infants to teens, and I love them all — shy kids, outgoing kids, sweet kids, curious kids, serious kids, silly kids. I truly believe that all children are wonderful and kids can literally do no wrong at my sessions. I will do my thing to engage with them, prompt them, make them giggle — the best thing you can do is set the tone of calmness and show them that you trust me. And no need to teach them to “say cheese” — I promise I will do my best to get real smiles and giggles, no cheese necessary!

What’s included with the session fee? The session fee includes photographer’s time planning, shooting and processing. Includes high-resolution digital image files with a print release for sharing on personal social media accounts and printing for personal use. Includes simple editing treatment of the images; with special-request retouching and creative editing services, and a full catalog of the highest quality printed products available for purchase.

Does the retainer apply to the session fee? Yep! The nonrefundable $20 retainer secures your spot and will be subtracted from the session balance due on your session day.

When will we get our pictures? Approximately 2-4 weeks from your session date. I do my best to process sessions and deliver beautiful and thorough galleries faster than promised, but please plan ahead for ordering and sending your holiday cards, knowing that you will not receive your full gallery overnight. Since I do take some time away from the computer for Thanksgiving and a couple weeks in December to enjoy the holidays with my family: for clients photographed after November 15th, I will send you a variety of favorites from our session that can be used for your holiday cards, and your full gallery may be delivered in January.

Will you be doing outdoor family sessions this year or are you still on sabbatical? Ahhh yes, the most frequently asked question of all. I WIlL be doing a very limited number of outdoor family session this Fall in the Phoenix area and in Flagstaff. I promise I’ll be in touch once I piece together a schedule of availability!

Will you add any more dates? YES! Let’s see how these go in August, and I’ll add more dates accordingly. If you have a specific date in mind, please send me a note.
